If you’re not drinking water by the time you’ve finished this post, I’ve failed.
I have extremely sensitive skin, so I’ve had a long journey with skincare products. After five years, I’ve discovered that WATER is the best thing ever for your skin, and I don’t just mean drinking it.
Normal cleansers function on one philosophy, to dry out the skin to “prevent breakouts.” But when your skin is dried out, your sebaceous glands produce even MORE oil to keep itself moisturized, and this is what makes your skin break out. Counterintuitive? Yup.
Dry skin cracks easily, so your pores don’t have any defense against dirt/bacteria from the environment. Healthy skin requires the perfect balance of water and oil, but we continue to layer thick “oil free” moisturizers on top of the skin in hopes that it will solve our problems. NO! YOU GUYS YOUR BODY IS SO SMART IT CAN LITERALLY DO THIS ON ITS OWN.
The only skin cleanser I’ve used in the last 2 years is water, and my skin condition has never been better.
Why a simple water bath helps your skin:
– My oils balanced themselves out
– My skin tone cleared up
– Increases blood flow to the skin
– Hydrated skin is plumped by water, because it fills in wrinkles/pores
– Gives skin the balance to fight against breakouts on its own
– Helps get rid of under-eye bags
– Makes you look all glowy and shit
When skin is hydrated, you can SEE THE DIFFERENCE! I challenge you to take SIX WEEKS without the expensive cleanser you’ve been using, and just wash your skin with lukewarm water. I use a silicone cleansing brush to scrub the daily dirt out at night, and follow up with my skin routine I posted in another blog post.
Final takeaway: water is magic. So is wine. But we not Jesus, so take the water, wash your face with it, and run.
