You see this picture? Look how lovingly I’m looking at this bottle. That, ladies and gentlemen, is an accurate representation of how much I LOVE this bottle.
Question: “Anna, what the hell’s in the bottle?”
Answer: Your new holy grail – Curamin
*PKU WARNING: This product does contain L- and D-phenylalanine
I’ve recently started doing Sunday 5K’s (follow @thepaleoish on Instagram to do them with me)!! I’ve had some knee pain due to an old MCL tear, so Terry Naturally reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in trying their natural pain reliever, Curamin. Usually I’m hesitant about trying supplements, but I did my research on the product and needed to try.
What is it?
The main ingredient is curcumin, which is the active ingredient in turmeric. However, curcumin makes up only about 3% of turmeric, which is why it’s extracted and sold in the form of supplements!
What’s in it?
Curcumin, boswelia, DLPA, nattokinase, black pepper, and cellulose powder for binding the capsules together
What does curcumin do?
Short version: everything
Long version: everything
Curcumin itself IS an anti-inflammatory, helping to reduce swelling and a lot of chronic
diseases caused by inflammation itself, including heart disease, arthritis, and chronic pain
disorders (including migraines)
Helps destroy free-radicals, which are the main contributors to cancer + aging
Because it helps chronic inflammation, curcumin supplementation can help the body
fight autoimmune disorders such as Crohn’s, IBS/IBD, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis
Boosts brain power!
Curcumin is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, increasing a growth hormone in the brain
called BDNF. Increases in BDNF help fight depression by boosting serotonin + dopamine
levels Alzheimer’s, and improve your memory
Acts as an antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal, as well as helping the liver detoxify
carcinogens from circulation
Boosts skin health!
Curcumin supplementation / turmeric paste applied directly on the skin calms pores,
speeds up wound healing, decreases acne, acne scarring, and actually cures scabies
Control Type 2 diabetes!
Curcumin has been found to be 400x more potent than metformin, a common drug used
to control T2DM
Reduces the growth of new blood vessels that help tumors grow, and reduce the spread of
cancer cells beyond their current boundaries
Sooo, do I need the other ingredients?
No, but they help.
Another pain reliever / anti-inflammatory that helps to boost the effects of curcumin
Fancy way of saying D- and L-phenylalanine, an amino acid that has been used for
treatment of depression + chronic pain by preventing the brain from breaking down
painkillers as quickly, helping alleviate pain for longer
A natural blood-thinner, thus decreasing its ability to form clots, and improving circulation
I hate taking painkillers as it is, but Curamin has helped with my migraines, my knee pain, and helps to alleviate some of my soreness after running. Overall, I feel that this product has made the traditional bottle of painkillers in my cabinet obsolete. Adios, Advil!
*Disclaimer: Terry Naturally provided my bottle of Curamin, but all opinions are honest + of my own research/experience!
